What is Summer's House of Cookies Records?!

It's an excuse to raise money for charity, spread some great music and celebrate how great Summer Brannin was.

When Summer's friend Mike Byer was at Oglio Records, he suggested to Adam that they put out a charity record. Adam could oversee most everything and Oglio would help release it. It was decided that it would be easiest to just form a record company and that 100% of the money it received would go to charity. With all publishing and normal artist fees being donated, that means more money is going to the record company than would on a normal compilation. For Songs For Summer, Summer's House of Cookies Records (nicknamed "SHOC" by hipsters) is giving away every penny it receives to Free Arts For Abused Children.

So, Adam did all of the contacting while Mike and the kind folks at Oglio took care of all of the technical stuff, friends helped with artwork and stellar industry pros did the mixing and layout. Adam called, faxed and e-mailed artists, managers, labels, publishers, and agents whenever he could (he has an understanding boss who still doesn't know about the faxes to England). To say that Adam didn't understand how much red tape was involved in getting all the necessary clearances on 15 songs by 15 different artists is the understatement of the millineum. It's hard enough to put together a compilation like this on a full-time basis with an actual record label staff. It took 22 months for one unpaid "employee" to put together Songs For Summer.

The record company was only started to release the Songs For Summer album, but, it appears that we have a very exciting summertime project that we'll do before we close up shop. Stay tuned!

Why is it called Summer's House of Cookies Records?

Like any decent American, Summer found a lot of humor in the sex industry. Anytime she saw a broken streetlamp flickering, she'd jump up and down and say "Live! Nude! Live! Nude!" She also barked at airplanes, in case you were wondering. Like any decent record company, Oglio Records puts porn stars on the cover of some of its records. Mike Byer told Summer that on the set of the photo shoot for the album cover of Sex-o-Rama, superstar Jenna Jameson kept referring to her "cookie; i.e. "Can you see my cookie?" Summer found this hilarious and often said with a smile that if she ever opened a whorehouse, she'd call it Summer's House of Cookies.
